Godiva enters sharing segment for the first time with major Godiva Gems chocolate launch – 29/10/09

Colourful: The Godiva Gems line of six individually wrapped chocolates is designed for the sharing segment

BELGIUM. Belgian chocolatier Godiva introduced its new Godiva Gems range at the TFWA World Exhibition – its first-ever product targeted at the sharing segment.

The new line of six individually wrapped chocolates is inspired by Godiva’s most popular recipes and is presented in colourful packaging.

The outer box is specially designed so that one end opens outwards like a tray, enabling consumers to share the chocolates easily with others.

“This is a new move for Godiva,” stated Godiva Europe Sales Director Gerry Murray at a launch presentation during the Majestic Hotel in Cannes last week. “Godiva Gems are designed for sharing, to be eaten by families or in the office.”

Up to now, the company has specialised in upscale signature gold-wrapped boxes and ballotins for the gifting market.

The new Godiva Gems range comprises:

– Godiva Gems milk truffles: smooth chocolate truffle cream in milk chocolate shells
– Godiva Gems milk caramels: rich caramel centres covered in milk chocolate
– Godiva Gems dark truffles: smooth chocolate truffle cream in dark chocolate shells
– Godiva Gems dark caramels: rich caramel centres covered in dark chocolate
– Godiva Gems milk chocolate thins: milk chocolate thins
– Godiva Gems dark chocolate thins: dark chocolate thins.
