Enthusiasm’s eco-sensitive bag

UAE. With such close scrutiny now being paid to the eco-credentials of the travel industry it was only a matter of time before travel retail came into focus.

Dubai-based company Enthusiasm has seized the opportunity by creating a range of eco-friendly bags which it is marketing to duty free retailers as an alternative to environmentally harmful plastic shopping bags.

Made from 100% biodegradable jute fibres, they come with a Carbon Zero label – signifying zero carbon emissions were emitted during their production.

The company believes that eco-sensitive travellers are let down by a lack of alternatives provided by retailers. Customers do not mind spending extra for jute bags as they can reuse them many times over, it said.

“Many eco friendly travelers want alternatives to reduce their carbon imprint while travelling,” said Enthusiasm Director Pradeep Parmar. “Jute bags not only provide an excellent alternative to plastic bags but operators and brands can advertise and contribute towards a better future. This will subsidize the cost of the bags and make it economical for the customers to buy them. Once set in motion it will only grow.”
