AUSTRALIA. Gold Coast Airport is to be the Host Airport for the inaugural AAA Retail & Commercial Forum to be held at the QT Hotel on the Gold Coast on 20-21 July.
The event is organised by The Australian Airports Association, The Moodie Davitt Report and The Mercurius Group.
As Host Airport, Gold Coast Airport, which is part of the Queensland Airports Limited group, will welcome the airport commercial revenue community from around Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region.
Queensland Airports Limited Chief Commercial Officer Adam Rowe said: “We are delighted to be hosting this important AAA Forum – the first of its kind in Australia.
“There is a lot happening at Gold Coast Airport right now, with passenger and flight numbers rebuilding strongly. By July, we will be counting down to the opening of our fresh, modern terminal expansion – which is 30,000sq m and will double our terminal footprint.
“We will also be in the midst of unveiling a completely new food & beverage and specialty retail line up, following the recent tendering of all stores (except duty free) at Gold Coast Airport, which promises to deliver our customers a refreshed travel experience and really reflects what the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales region has become.
“We look forward to catching up with our airport and commercial operator colleagues face-to-face once again and sharing more about the terminal expansion project. Delegates can be assured of having a great time on the Gold Coast.”
Commenting on the Host Airport agreement, Australian Airports Association Chief Executive James Goodwin said, “We are delighted to welcome Gold Coast Airport on board and thank them for supporting this event, which will greatly assist airports of all sizes with their diversification of non-aeronautical services and developments.”
The Moodie Davitt Report Chairman Martin Moodie said, “Gold Coast Airport taking up the Host Airport sponsorship is an important milestone for the AAA Retail & Commercial Forum. Clearly the support of the airport community is critical to such an event and given the equally encouraging response from commercial operators and brands, we are confident that the Forum will deliver on its mission to accelerate industry recovery.”
The Mercurius Group Managing Director Ivo Favotto said, “Gold Coast Airport is a long-time and important client of our company and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work closely with their commercial team once again. I am sure they will add value in developing the programme and ensuring that it is of the highest relevance to airports large and small.”
