Groupe ADP seeks partner for travel essentials business at Paris airports

FRANCE. Paris Aéroport (Groupe ADP) has issued a tender notice seeking a partner for its travel essentials business at Paris Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports. The move was flagged by The Moodie Davitt Report in our on location story from Paris on 2 February. The business is currently managed by the Relay @ ADP joint venture between the airport company and Lagardère Travel Retail.

The selected partner will take a 50% stake in a new subsidiary of Groupe ADP, named Extime Travel Essentials Paris. According to ADP, the business will be worth around €2 billion over a ten-year term.

The partners will have the rights to design, fit out, maintain and operate around 65 travel essentials and convenience points of sale in the airside and public spaces at Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly airports.

The contract will begin on 1 February 2024 and runs until 31 January 2034. The airports company requires potential partners to have a minimum annual turnover of €100 million.

The deadline for submissions is 15 March, at 1700 Paris time.

The move to tender comes as Groupe ADP rolls out its new retail and hospitality concept Extime across its new-look ‘boutique terminals’ in Paris and later, overseas.

The key commercial businesses under the Extime Paris umbrella are managed through a series of agreements with preferred partners: Lagardère Travel Retail (Extime Duty Free, owned 51% by ADP), JCDecaux (Extime Media, 50:50 owned), SSP (Extime Food & Beverage, 50:50 owned) and TAV Operation Services (Extime Lounge, 51% TAV).

Extime Travel Essentials will represent a new partnership in Paris from 2024. As reported, Groupe ADP Chief Customer Officer Mathieu Daubert told The Moodie Davitt Report in Paris recently: “We will go to the market as we are creating a new story. We had JVs for a long time, now we want to ensure we explore all opportunities and a competition is the best way. In this case, unlike Extime Duty Free, we will brand the stores according to the chosen partner as that is likely to be more recognisable for travellers.”
