Guylian wins ‘Superior Taste Award’ for Sea Shell and Sea Horse pralinés

Belgium chocolatier Guylian has been awarded Three Gold Stars by the International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi) for its Sea Shell and Sea Horse praliné chocolates.

The Superior Taste Award is an international recognition based upon the blind judgment of 120 top chefs and sommeliers from all over the world. These judges have many years’ experience in tasting food products across Europe and as far afield as Japan, China, Thailand, Australia, North, Central and South America.

Only 20% of almost 1,000 products submitted to the iTQi’s 2012 Super Taste Awards have been honoured with Three Stars. Overall the Guylian products achieved a score of over 90%. Across the five criteria analysed by the panel of culinary opinion leaders and taste experts – first impression, appearance, smell, texture and taste – the Guylian products scored between 86.3 (for smell) and 92.5 (for appearance).

Guylian will feature its Three Gold Stars Superior Taste Award win on its Sea Shell packaging from 2013

Guylian’s iconic Sea Shell chocolates are available in a range of pack sizes, from the 33g three-piece box to large premium gift boxes containing up to 88 chocolates. This year Guylian launched its signature praliné in a new Sea Horse shape, available in boxes of two (23g) for self-consumption and in large 374g boxes for sharing/gifting.

The brand’s signature hazelnut praliné filling is still made in-house according to the original recipe created by founder, Guy Foubert. Finely crushed, caramelised and roasted hazelnuts are blended with Belgian milk chocolate to create a smooth hazelnut praliné filling.

Guylian said it will communicate the news to consumers on its Sea Shell packaging from 2013.
