Cuban cigar company Habanos has launched a replica of an ancient Ramón Allones humidor, which will be available in the coming weeks in the La Casa del Habano stores worldwide.
There are only 350 numbered Ramón Allones humidors, each handmade from precious woods in the Havana workshop of artist, goldsmith and woodwork craftsman Ernesto Aguilera. Each humidor contains 50 cigars, handmade from selected leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco plantation in Cuba.
The cigars are Allones Imperiales (48 ring gauge x 165mm), a size Habanos said to was ideal for approximately one hour of smoking.
Founded in 1837, Ramón Allones is said to be the first cigar manufacturer to pack the cigars in labelled boxes decorated with colours and images.
