Hainan sales climb +35% year-on-year in first week of November

CHINA. Hainan sales surged +34.9% year-on-year to CNY506 million (US$71,195,920) in the first week of November, according to recently released Haikou Customs figures.

The period from 1 to 7 November attracted 72,900 shoppers, up +3.4% year-on-year, underlining a big increase in average spend per customer.

Sales in Sanya accounted for CNY279 million (US$39.3 million) of the total, up +41.1% year-on-year.

Newly added categories – introduced on 1 November – such as pet supplies and portable musical instruments (including small appliances and consumer electronics) saw 1,488 sales to a value of CNY2.75 million (US$387,000). 🏝️
