US. US distributor Haleybrooke International has signed an agreement to represent the super-premium Tequila Siete Leguas in the duty free channel in the Americas, and to assist in developing Tequila Siete Leguas (“Seven Leagues”) in other travel retail markets.

Siete Leguas is named after the horse ridden by General Francisco Villa (Pancho Villa). It will retail in duty free at US$34 for the Blanco, US$36 for the Reposado, and US$38 for the Anejo and soon-to-be-released D’Antano.

President of Haleybrooke International Patrick Nilson said: “We are very pleased to add another super-premium brand to our portfolio with Tequila Siete Leguas, which will become one of our flagship brands.”

Fernando Gonzalez de Anda, Managing Director of Tequila Sieta Leguas, said: “We are very happy to not only appoint professionals who understand the complexity of the business, but who also have the sensitivity to appreciate our brand’s smooth taste and the family’s long history in tequila.”

Tequila Siete Leguas is made from a combination of the “juices” at the family’s two distilleries, El Centenario, established in 1942, and La Vencedora, established in 1956. Each has its own process, “Molino”, or roller mill, and the traditional Tahona, or millstone, which to this day is pulled by one of the seven mules from Arkansas.

Tequila Siete Leguas Distillery is located in Atotonilco el Altos, Jalisco, Mexico. It was founded in 1952 by Don Ignacio Gonzalez Vargas. The distillery has been selling its tequila under its trademark in Mexico since its founding.

Francisco Tonarely, the President of Brand Equity Partners which manages all business for Tequila Sieta Leguas outside Mexico, said: “Assisting Tequila Siete Leguas in developing its business outside Mexico is all the more gratifying given the family’s commitment, its 52-year history, its revolutionary spirit and its passion for quality in every serving.”

Haleybrooke International is working with Francisco Tonarely on the duty free channel in the Americas and on selected markets worldwide.
