Hamad International Airport serves over 45 million passengers in record-breaking 2023

QATAR. Hamad International Airport (HIA) set a new annual traffic high in 2023, serving 45,916,104 passengers. The total represents an eye-catching +31% increase compared to 2022, the year in which Qatar hosted the FIFA World Cup.

The airport reported 252,059 aircraft movements across 2023, a +22% increase compared to the previous 12 months.

Qatar Airways Group noted that close to 303 million passengers have been served since HIA opened in 2014. Since then, there has been a +63% increase in annual passenger volumes.

The airport served a total of 52 airlines in the year, including first-time HIA carriers such as Vistara, Air Iberia and Xiamen. HIA linked 255 destinations in 2023, including passenger, cargo and chartered flights.

Qatar national carrier Qatar Airways will serve additional European destinations in 2024 including Hamburg and Venice.
