Heathrow Airport passenger traffic shows sustained recovery in February

UK. London Heathrow Airport served 5.2 million passengers in February, a leap of +81.4% year-on-year, with the figure over 94% of the 5.48 million posted in February 2019.

The month included the busiest day at Terminal 5 since Christmas 2019 with 94,000 passengers travelling on 26 February. The half-term period proved strong with Dubai, New York and Madrid the top holiday destinations.

Heathrow Airport said that the key East Asian market is growing fast with eight times as many passengers as in February 2022.

The airport company noted that passenger satisfaction levels are close to those recorded pre-pandemic. Departures punctuality was the most consistent it has been in the last 12 months and over 98% of passengers were through security in under ten minutes for the second month in a row.

Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye said: “The February half-term went very smoothly, thanks to a great plan and teamwork across the airport. This should give everyone confidence that we are prepared for a successful Easter getaway.” ✈
