High-profile promotion: ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’ campaign draws 1.4 million entries

SINGAPORE. Changi Airport Group has named the winners of its latest annual shopping promotion ‘Be a Changi Millionaire’. The culmination of the ninth campaign took place at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, with Chinese national Chen Rou Jing capturing the S$1 million top prize. Another Chinese, Cao Zheng, won a Jaguar E-Pace SUV.

The campaign has proved a big driver of awareness in the shopping and dining offer at Changi Airport. The latest draw received more than 1.4 million entries from 212 countries, with Singapore, China and Indonesia the top three participant nationalities.

To participate, passengers and airport visitors had to shop or dine at Changi Airport and spend a minimum of S$50 in a single receipt. One finalist was picked each month from May to October 2018 for the Grand Draw, with two others picked from qualifying shoppers on iShopChangi and the Platinum card members of the Changi Rewards loyalty programme. In addition, six other car prize finalists were drawn from shoppers who made purchases of more than S$500 in accumulated spend in a single day.

Building on this year’s campaign concept, ‘Luck is Everywhere’, 14 finalists competed for the top prizes in games built around luck and chance luck. Ultimately, eight challenged for the million dollars, and six finalists battled for the luxury car.

Finalists from each category were first grouped into pairs and blindfolded before taking part in a preliminary round of ‘scissors, paper, stone’ on stage, where the winners advanced to the next round. After several elimination rounds, the last two finalists faced off, with the ninth Changi Millionaire and the owner of the Jaguar decided.

The tenth edition of ‘Be A Changi Millionaire’ will be launched later this year.
