HMSHost agrees US$80 million Albany International Airport contract extension

USA. Albany International Airport has awarded a US$80 million contract extension until 2029 to global restaurateur HMSHost and its Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) partners. The airport is located in Albany County, New York.

Under the contract, HMSHost’s existing locations will undergo renovations. Enhancements will begin this year, with all works expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

HMSHost will open a new Hudson Valley Beer Union for Concourse B travellers, featuring locally-crafted beers and a menu of regional food. Also planned by the end of 2020 are renovations and refreshed menus to The Local @ ALB in Concourse C; Silks Saratoga Bistro in the Main Terminal Food Court; and Albany Adirondack Lodge in Concourse A.

Enhancements to F&B at Albany International will include the introduction of a new Burger King restaurant in the Main Terminal Food Court.

HMSHost will also open a new Burger King in the main food court later this summer in partnership with ACDBE programme partner Carl Andrews, President/CEO of C&E Global Solutions LLC. In addition, HMSHost will continue to operate the Starbucks store in the main food court and HMSHost’s ACDBE programme partner, Parvez Sharifipour, will continue operating the pre-security Dunkin’ Donuts.

HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Amy Dunne said: “HMSHost is honoured to continue our partnership with the Albany County Airport Authority to serve the capital region travellers with an assortment of dining offerings for their travel journey.

“With the new Hudson Valley Beer Union, we’ll be showcasing the region’s growing craft beer scene with some of the area’s best beer for locals and world visitors alike to enjoy.”

Albany County Airport Authority Chairman Rev Kenneth Doyle said: “HMSHost has shown a commitment to elevate the passenger experience at Albany International Airport with the addition of new venues such as the Hudson Valley Beer Union along with new menus for existing locations such as Silks and The Local @ ALB.

“In addition, we look forward to the addition of Burger King which will further expand our travellers’ fast-food options.’’
