The Lee Kitchen interior has been designed to be inviting to travellers |
TV chef Susur Lee has opened an Asian fusion restaurant at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Located in Terminal 1, Lee Kitchen combines a number of the Hong Kong-born chef’s traditional dishes with new recipes specially created for travellers.
Restaurateur HMSHost partnered with Lee, who has been living in Toronto since 2000, to create the airport dining experience. Cooks will work behind the counter of a terminal-facing dim sum station, with dark wood finishes, an overhead trellis and accent lighting intended to create an inviting atmosphere.
Chef Lee’s style blends classical French techniques with traditional Chinese cuisine, and the Lee Kitchen menu features a range of bistro-style entrees and items such as mushroom dumplings, five spice braised beef, and cheeseburger spring rolls made with chipotle mayo and sweet and sour ribs. Customers will also be able to take a dim sum box on flights.
“We are passionate about providing our passengers with traditional and global food options, but at the end of the day, it’s about making sure we have good food for our passengers which is what Chef Lee brings to the airport,” commented Toronto Pearson Vice President of Customer and Terminal Services Scott Collier.
HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Amy Dunne said: “Chef Lee is an ideal partner for HMSHost because the breadth of his experience and knowledge along with his insight and creativity is unparalleled in the culinary realm of Asian fusion. Lee Kitchen gives travellers that Toronto experience that helps make the dining offering at the airport world class.”
