HMSHost appoints Maalouf as Executive Vice President – 03/02/05

US. HMSHost Corporation has appointed Elie Maalouf, formerly Senior Vice President of International Business Development, as Executive Vice President in charge of HMSHost’s Airport Food and Beverage Operations.

Maalouf now oversees all the company’s airport restaurant activities in 70 airports in six countries. HMSHost is owned by Autogrill, currently the lead bidder in the takeover battle for Spanish travel retailer Aldeasa.

He will also oversee the firm’s Design & Construction activities for its airport food and beverage, retail, and motorway businesses. Maalouf will continue his responsibilities for the company’s International Development and Operations areas, and its strategic planning activities.

The appointment means that Maalouf will be responsible for business activities that generate approximately US$1.3 billion worth of revenue.

Maalouf, who joined HMSHost in 1997 as Vice President of Business Development, will continue to report to and work closely with John McCarthy, HMSHost President and CEO, in planning the company’s growth and success.

Les Cappetta, formerly Senior Vice President of Business Development for North America, has been promoted to the position of Executive Vice President. Cappetta will continue to oversee all North American business development activities.

Chuck Powers has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Powers is responsible for all human resource functions within the organisation and its 24,000 associates worldwide.

Cappetta and Powers will report directly to McCarthy.

Vince Modica, Senior Vice President, Concepts, Products, and Standards, and Linda Dunn, Vice President, Business and Process Analysis, maintain their current roles and will report directly to McCarthy.
