USA. HMSHost has opened the first Starbucks at Philadelphia International Airport, in partnership with MarketPlace Philadelphia.
Located in the Philadelphia Marketplace Food & Shops in the B/C Connector, between Terminals B and C, the new outlet was officially opened yesterday. Representatives from HMSHost, Starbucks, MarketPlace Philadelphia, the Mayor’s office, and the airport celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony while enjoying samples of Starbucks signature iced coffee.

The design of the new space pays homage to the tradition and spirit of Victorian architecture that defines the neighbourhoods of Philadelphia, said HMSHost. A comfortable seating area is enclosed with Hickory panels that have been laser cut with a motif inspired by Victorian decorative elements, in a modern interpretation of the classic front porch.
“Starbucks is an American institution. It is one of the few brands that strikes instant recognition in people everywhere, and its reputation is renowned for great coffee, good food and a friendly place to hang out,” said Philadelphia International Airport CEO Mark Gale. “Our customers have been asking for Starbucks, we’ve listened and we’re pleased to now have Starbucks serving our airport.”
HMSHost Senior Director of Business Development Bryan Loden added: “HMSHost has a longstanding partnership with Starbucks in airports throughout the US and we are very excited to now have the opportunity to bring this sought after favourite to Philadelphia travellers. Philadelphia Airport and MarketPlace Philadelphia have been great partners and we look forward to working together for years to come.”
