HMSHost clinches prestigious merchandising award – 12/04/05

US. HMSHost has won the 2005 Award for Excellence, for mainline merchandising in the transport/bookstore/specialty/military category. The award, which recognises excellence in the area of periodical retailing, was presented by the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA) and International Periodical Distributors Association (IPDA) at their most recent meeting.

Nominees were judged on a variety of elements including: creativity of merchandise displays; effectiveness of adjacencies and product groupings; co-ordination between product offerings and customer demographics; and productivity of promotional vehicles, advertising and special displays.

HMSHost President and CEO John McCarthy commented: “HMSHost is very proud to receive such a prestigious award. Magazines are one of the most important products in the travel sector, so to be recognised by the magazine industry for the creativity and effectiveness of our retail stores is quite an honour.”
