USA. HMSHost Foundation’s annual Invitational Golf Classic has raised an estimated US$250,000 to support its mission to fight poverty and strengthen communities in North America.
This year’s tournament, at Orlando’s Reunion Resort and Club, drew a record attendance with over 325 golfers participating in friendly matches.
HMSHost President and CEO Steve Johnson said: “This event would not be possible without the efforts and contributions of our exceptional family of HMSHost partners.
“I’d like to thank our sponsors AB InBev, Boston Beer Company, and Proximo Spirits and all of our participants for helping us exceed fundraising expectations. We are grateful for this opportunity to bring our industry together to give back to the community and help make a positive impact.”
HMSHost Foundation said it has a coast-to-coast network of partners which support its mission to fight poverty. Since its establishment in 2015, the foundation has supported the work of more than 55 mission-aligned charitable organisations across North America.
HMSHost Foundation President Paul Mamalian commented: “HMSHost Foundation’s 2018 tournament was a huge success and is truly indicative of the drive we all have to continue doing the work necessary in the fight against poverty.
“We are proud to support so many great charitable organisations in the communities where HMSHost operates and are thrilled about directing the funds contributed by our wonderful partners to spur real action in even more communities throughout North America.”
Two charities, Orlando Union Rescue Mission and Children of Restaurant Employees (CORE), were presented grants of US$15,000 at the event. Orlando Union Rescue Mission was founded in 1948. It is a faith-based service provider for central Florida’s hungry, hurting, and homeless with programmes focused on food, shelter, and personal development.
CORE supports children of food & beverage families facing life-altering events such as death, medical conditions and home loss.
