HONG KONG. Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled 3.1 million passengers in February, up +28.6% year-on-year, the Airport Authority has announced.
HKIA recorded a total of 19,075 aircraft movements, up +10.9% year-on-year. The authority said that heavy overseas travel during the Lunar New Year holiday boosted the passenger numbers in February.
The airport had the busiest-ever Lunar New Year holiday, with a single-day record number of 150,000 on 13 February, while the average daily traffic over the festival was 118,000 passengers, up +10% year-on-year.
In the past 12 months over 37.8 million passengers travelled through HKIA, a jump of more than +38.2% compared with the corresponding period last year. Aircraft movements recorded a buoyant +26.8% upswing to 240,030.
