Hong Kong Airport maintains traffic recovery in September but still lags pre-pandemic levels

HONG KONG, CHINA. Hong Kong International Airport reported a steady recovery in passenger traffic for September, serving 4.06 million passengers.

The figure represents 83% of the numbers recorded during the same month in pre-pandemic 2019 and a year-on-year growth of +22.4%.

According to the latest data by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), flight movements at the airport stood at 29,595, up +22.3% from the same month of the previous year.

The airport registered sharp year-on-year increases across all passenger segments in September, including Hong Kong residents, visitors and transfer/transit passengers.

Hong Kong Airport’s top markets during the month were Southeast Asia and Mainland China, recording notable increases.

During the January to September period, passenger volume reached 39 million, up +40.9% year-on-year, while aircraft movements increased +39%, amounting to 267,035.

Hong Kong Airport’s rolling 12-month traffic has reached 50.8 million, surging +63.5% year-on-year, while flight movements jumped +49.9% to 351,015. ✈
