Hong Kong International Airport launches major Chinese promotion

HONG KONG. Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has struck a partnership with a leading Chinese bank card association that offers privileged rates for shopping and dining at its outlets. The move is expected to drive interest in the offer among Mainland Chinese travellers.

From 1 May 2010 to 30 April 2011, all China Unionpay (CUP) card holders can enjoy over 50 special price and value offers from a wide span of brands and outlets.

Established in March 2002, China UnionPay (CUP) is a bankcard association established under the approval of the State Council and the People’s Bank of China.

Hong Kong International Airport has created a strong promotion for China Unionpay customers


At retail stores, CUP customers can avail of -5% to -15% discounts, plus gifts and giveaways, as well as reward coupons from selected retailers.

There is an array of food & beverage offers. At Delifrance, purchases with CUP of HK$50 or above come with a free butter croissant with ice-cream (value at HK$23) after 11am. At Hang Heung’s Kitchen, Maxim’s Chinese Restaurant, Burger King, Famous Famiglia, Green Cottage Vietnamese Restaurant, Heineken Bar, Tin Xian Dumplings and Itamae-sushi, there are discounts of between -10% and -40% on selected menus.

At Hutchison Telecommunication Services there is a -10% discount off prepaid SIM cards or recharge vouchers (with spends of HK$100 or above).

In addition, HKIA has launched a shopping pledge for all customers, guaranteeing the same price as the equivalent brand’s downtown stores.
