Hong Kong International Airport passenger traffic shows sustained recovery in August

HONG KONG, CHINA. Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) welcomed 4 million passengers in August, slightly up by +5% compared to the previous month. The airport is the Host of The Trinity Forum 2023 due to be held on 25-26 October.

Data from HKIA showed that daily average number of air passengers in August reached 130,000, recovering to nearly 66% of the pre-pandemic level.

There were 25,055 aircraft movements last month, an increase of +4.3% from July.

The number of international flight passengers was 7.3 times higher than the low base in the same month last year, while aircraft movements increased by 1.2 times.

The top source markets include Southeast Asia, Mainland China and Japan.

On a 12-month rolling basis, passenger volume at HKIA saw a remarkable 11-fold year-on-year growth to 28.3 million, while flight movements soared by +55.7% to 221,585.
