The Irishman Superior Irish Whiskey, renamed The Irishman 70 in October |
IRELAND. Whiskey producer Hot Irishman will make its debut at the TFWA World Exhibition with an introduction of three award-winning products: The Irishman 70 Superior Irish Whiskey, The Irishman Single Malt and Hot Irishman Superior Irish Coffee. All three will be showcased at the Bord Bia booth (Stand number: Mediterranean Village N17).
Irishman 70, previously named The Irishman Superior Irish Whiskey, is a 70% malt extra smooth blend. This old Irish pot still whiskey, blended with Irish malt, is triple distilled and matured in bourbon casks, each one personally selected for bottling by company owner Bernard Walsh.

The Irishman Single Malt Whiskey |
The Irishman 70 was recently awarded the silver medal at the International Spirits Competition. Referring to the award, Walsh said: “This is a fantastic achievement for our unique blend of Irish whiskey. We were in good company, as silver was also awarded to Redbreast 12yo and Jameson 18yo.”
Autumn gold in colour, The Irishman 70 is described as having a good nose with tones of pepper and spice, and is well balanced with a lingering finish. It is available to travel retail in 50ml, 350ml, 500ml PET, 700ml and 750ml.
The Irishman Single Malt is a whiskey matured for over a decade in bourbon and sherry casks to mellow the flavour and add a hint of sweetness. The malt is distilled from malt barley and the waters of St Columbs Rill in Ireland.
With each batch limited to a thousand cases, each bottle is uniquely numbered and signed, with casks personally selected by Walsh. Open-fronted gift boxes are also available, along with a miniature gift pack containing one 50ml of each whiskey and a crystal whiskey glass.
The gift box idea is “an excellent way for consumers to taste both these rare whiskies with minimum expense”, said Walsh, adding: “Hopefully they will then come back and buy a full size bottle of one or both of them.”

Hot Irishman Superior Irish Coffee |
The Hot Irishman’s signature Superior Irish Coffee is a mix of 100% Irish whiskey, dark roast Columbian coffee and Irish brown sugar, to which boiling water is added.
A first-time exhibitor at the TFWA, the company is already seeing success in several travel retail markets. Walsh said: “Hot Irishman is very much a specialist in offering exclusive, unusual, premium products to travel retail. We are already listed and doing extremely well with Aer Rianta for airports in Ireland plus Nuance for ferries.”
He added: “On the domestic front the brands are sold throughout Ireland and exported to the UK, US, Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and South Africa.”
