HTDF steps up cross-category promotional drive during Hainan duty-free shopping festival

CHINA. Hainan Tourism Duty Free Shopping Complex (HTDF) has rolled out further promotional events during the third annual Hainan Offshore Duty Free Shopping Festival.

As reported, the retailer recently launched Enjoy Hainan’s Exciting Duty Free Shopping Carnival partnering with major brands, scenic spots and hotels to explore ‘duty free +’ concepts.

The summer-themed event integrates various elements, including music, art and complimentary air tickets to create an immersive shopping experience during the travel season.

HTDF has introduced the ‘duty free + music’ concept by collaborating with popular local musicians. The Summer Island Vacation Concert features outdoor music performances every weekend to complement the shopping experience.

Emerging domestic artist Juee has partnered with the retailer to launch limited-edition island-themed products. This collaboration is centred on the ‘duty free + art’ concept and offers trendy gifts-with-purchase.

HTDF has also explored the ‘duty free + scenic spots’ concept to launch a series of ‘duty free + cultural tourism’ activities. Consumers spending over a certain amount are gifted tickets to visit Hainan Tourism Investment Groups 4A-level attraction – Exianling Eco-cultural Tourism Area.

Additionally, local tourism and entertainment venue Sanya Romance Park is greeting HTDF shoppers with a variety of flash performances.

HTDF has also teamed up with Sanya Muncipal Bureau of Commerce to implement a ‘duty free + air ticket’ concept. From 1 August until 7 October, travellers in Hainan with departure or arrival flight tickets can enjoy voucher packages worth CNY500 (US$70).

Additional seasonal shopping vouchers and multiple discounts can be accessed through various social media platforms.

The ‘duty free + hotels concept’ involves partnerships with Sanya hotels to offer ‘shopping + accommodation’ discount packages.

HTDF has also partnered with globally renowned brands across categories including luxury jewellery and watches, fashion items, perfumes & cosmetics and wines and spirits.

A Johnnie Walker activation offers visitors free tastings

Brand activities involve discounted promotions and reward points for labels including Messika, Djula, Longines, IWC, Chloe, Ferragamo and Tory Burch. Johnnie Walker is offering tasting experiences in collaboration with HTDF.

More than 70 fragrance and cosmetics brands from houses such as Lancôme, Estée Lauder and La Mer are offering multiple discounts and promotions. Some brands also provide free luxury handcare experiences to visitors.
