Hudson begins rebranding former WH Smith stores

US. The Hudson Group takes handover of 155 WH Smith USA Travel Retail stores in 23 airports during this month. Hudson said in a statement the financial transaction for WH Smith’s US airport retail business had been completed.

All news and gift stores will be converted to the award-winning Hudson News brand. Additionally, all bookstores will be changed to the Hudson Booksellers brand.

Hudson Group executive vice president Joseph DiDomizio commented: “We are extremely honoured and proud to become partners with those airports associated with this acquisition. The transition will be managed efficiently unnoticeable to the airports, employees and our customers alike.”

“Hudson Group’s familiar brand names will incorporate seamlessly into their new airport homes and customers will be pleased to see their favourite travel retail brands in over 60 airports and transportation terminals.”

The airport locations to be transitioned in the acquisition are: Birmingham International Airport, Boston Logan International Airport, Dallas Fort Worth Airport, Denver International Airport, Greenville Spartanburg International Airport, Gulfport Biloxi Regional Airport, Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport, Indianapolis International Airport, New York John F Kennedy International Airport, New York LaGuardia Airport, Mobile Regional Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport, Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Omaha Airport Eppley Airfield, Orlando International Airport, Pittsburgh International Airport, Raleigh Durham International Airport, San Francisco International Airport, Shreveport Regional Airport, and Vancouver International Airport.

With over 430 stores, Hudson Group becomes the largest privately-owned travel retail chain in north America.
