Ian Macleod Distillers partners with Dufry to launch Tamdhu Single Cask at Heathrow

Ian Macleod Distillers is partnering with Dufry to present an exclusive Single Cask from Tamdhu Distillery at Heathrow.

The 15yo, which is limited to 595 bottles, is available at all World Duty Free (WDF) stores across the airport and in the World of Whiskies stores in Terminal 4 and 5 .

The first-fill American Oak Oloroso sherry cask whisky was distilled in September 2003 and bottled in June 2019. It was hand-picked by members of the Dufry team from a shortlist of five, has a 57.1% ABV and a RRP of £249 (US$311).

The Tamdhu 15yo Single Cask follows the launch of the Tamdhu Single Cask at Edinburgh Airport earlier this year. The mahogany-coloured spirit offers notes of shortbread, honey, raspberry and chocolate raisins, with hints of vanilla and plum. Tastes of cream sherry, apricot and soft spice flavours combine in a long finish.

Ian Macleod Distillers said the expression “creates a new focus for whisky connoisseurs and collectors”.

Introducing the Tamdhu 15yo Single Cask: Launched with whisky aficionados in mind

Dufry Liquor Category Manager Matthew Scott-Fairweather added: “We are delighted to launch a second special Tamdhu Single Cask in World Duty Free. The Heathrow American Oak single cask creates an exciting contrast to the Edinburgh European Oak single cask, which will appeal to whisky aficionados in travel retail.”

Ian Macleod Distillers Global Travel Retail Director William Ovens commented: “The five casks we tasted were all exceptional but the chosen cask showcases the profile of Tamdhu beautifully and we are confident that this incredible first fill American Oak Sherry Cask, a gem of a whisky, will be hugely prized by consumers in global travel retail.”

As reported, Ian Macleod Distillers and Dufry launched two travel retail exclusive Tamdhu expressions into global travel retail in November 2018: Tamdhu Ámbar 14yo (RRP £69.99, US$87) and Tamdhu Gran Reserva First Edition (RRP £149.99 US$187).

An artisanal Scotch malt whisky, Tamdhu is made with water drawn from Tamdhu Distillery’s spring on the banks of the River Spey. Tamdhu is always matured in Oloroso sherry casks and boasts a natural colour.
