Martin Howey: Strong track record in the spirits industry

Italian spirits company Illva Saronno, which owns the Disaronno and Tia Maria brands, has named Martin Howey as Global Travel Retail Director with immediate effect.

The highly experienced and respected Howey joins the brand owner from Chivas Brothers Ltd (Pernod Ricard) where he was Global Travel Retail Director, responsible for international brand development and revenue growth.

Howey has experience of working across different regions, including Asia, the Americas, Gulf, South Africa, Australia and global travel retail.

His remit is to strengthen Illva Saronno’s travel retail strategy, focusing on its brands Disaronno and Tia Maria, and to seek opportunities for other products within the portfolio.

In a statement the brand owner said: “Disaronno and Tia Maria have long been established in travel retail but it is only during the past two years that the company has actively focused on this category.

“There is tremendous potential that Martin Howey is well equipped to develop and build on, thanks to his incredible knowledge and enthusiasm for the travel retail business.”

Howey added: “I am delighted to be on board and look forward to working with the team and our customers in developing a long-term strategic plan for our brands in this dynamic and evolving channel.”

Howey will be present at the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas in Orlando, on the Webb booth (923).
