INDIA. Today’s images come from an illuminating walk-through tour of Navi Mumbai International Airport’s domestic departure spaces – international flights will begin operations in coming months – following the opening of Mumbai’s second major airport in December.
As reported, the airport commenced commercial operations on 25 December, marking a landmark expansion of Mumbai’s aviation capacity and a decisive step in India’s infrastructure journey.
The Adani Airports-run terminal leans heavily on digital services, lovely design flourishes led by the lotus design that dominates the building architecture, senses and flavours of Mumbai and Maharashtra across dining and retail, high ceilings and good visibility throughout, plus easy access to gates.
The 20 million-capacity terminal will eventually stretch to 90 million across multiple terminals in later phases.
We paid a visit with teams from Adani Airports, Ospree Duty Free and Flemingo International to view the impressively Mumbai-centred offer first hand. Full report to follow. ✈
