POLAND. Our latest selection of visuals comes courtesy of Baltona, which has revealed impressions of its new-look main duty-free store at Kraków Airport. This follows a new agreement struck with the airport company at the location.
Contemporary Kraków with its rich cultural heritage rings out loud and clear in the designs, which UK-based The Design Solution played a key role in developing.

Design cues for the 500sq m store – to be completed by May – are taken from the legend of the fire-breathing Wawel Dragon in these parts, which blend with in-store digital solutions and intuitive wayfinding, said the retailer.
Baltona President of the Management Board Wojciech Czernek said, “The key to winning the tender was a deep understanding of the passenger perspective.
“Our concept goes beyond a traditional retail space – we design the experience of the entire journey, combining innovation with the cultural identity of Kraków and the region. It is clear example of how we aim to develop the brand in the decades ahead.”
The Design Solution Director Nick Taylor said: “We were thrilled by the opportunity to be part of this unique, innovative project. For us, the central idea was to combine the contemporary energy of Kraków’s residents with the cultural heritage of the city and the entire region, which dates back over a thousand years.
“Thanks to the use of many advanced digital solutions, even frequent visitors will experience something completely new with every subsequent visit.” ✈
