Immediately post-security, passengers enter the bright and airy walk-through Sevilla Duty Free store, the dazzling digital framework signalling a vibrant sense of place from the get-go

SPAIN. Today’s images come from Sevilla (Seville) Airport, principal gateway to western Andalusia and an excellent showcase for the region, writes Martin Moodie.

It’s one of several Spanish regional airports I have visited over recent times during an unusually long stay in Europe, the others being Alicante–Elche Miguel Hernández, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat and Málaga–Costa del Sol.

All have their virtues. And all have an Avolta duty-free shopping offer, in each case with a noteworthy local element.

That is certainly the case here in Sevilla, as the following photos taken on my iphone just before I boarded my flight to London Gatwick Airport underline.

A plentiful range of wines, liqueur and spirits from Andalusia and other Spanish regions proves a popular drawcard
Tobacco products, including vaping, are prominently displayed at the front of the store
Avolta has paid appropriate homage to Seville’s status as a Flamenco heartland with this primely positioned and suitably adorned tasting bar
If you’re going to capture the soul of Seville, you should also capture its spirit, in this case literally. Puerto de Indias is the leading brand in Spain’s key strawberry gin segment, having been a pioneer in creating the first gin from natural strawberries. The distillery in Carmona (Seville) is one of Andalusia’s oldest and most traditional.

Orange Duque de Carmona is a delicious aromatised wine, aged in American oak casks for six to eight years, with the scent and delightful taste of Seville’s famed oranges

The food and confectionery zone offers a superb array of regional and national delights

Agua de Sevilla is considered a symbol of Andalusian elegance and tradition and it enjoys a show-stopping presence here
