Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Strange Nature Gin from New Zealand, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

CHINA. The fourth China International Consumer Products Expo (Hainan Expo) proved another big success with some 480,000 visitors – trade and consumer – attending the event.

The total exhibition area grew to a record 128,000sq m, with 4,019 consumer brands from 71 countries and regions on show.

More than 55,000 professional buyers attended the event, up +10% year-on-year. You can read our extensive original on location coverage here.

Once again The Moodie Davitt Report was the only international travel retail media to attend the event. Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie was joined at the Expo by two of our Hainan team – Chief China Representative Zhang Yimei and Moodie Davitt China Travel Retail Express (our daily WeChat platform) Editor Dachang Wang – alongside UK-based Publisher Irene Revilla and Brands Director Hannah Tan-Gillies.

Additionally, members of our newly launched Moodie Davitt STUDIO team – videographer, editor and director Alexander Roux and production assistant Chen Ming (‘Mao’) – were on hand to shoot footage of the event, including a world-exclusive video interview with The Estée Lauder Companies Global President, Travel Retail Worldwide Israel Assa (coming soon).

Here are some pictorial and video highlights. Look out for our associated feature in the May edition of The Moodie Davitt Report Magazine (print and digital), timed to coincide with the TFWA Asia Pacific show in Singapore. ✈

A first for The Moodie Davitt Report as Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie joined Cellcosmet China General Manager Julia Sun for a livestream on Douyin during the Hainan Expo. Cellcosmet is a respected luxury Swiss skincare, beauty and wellness brand. In 1982, its founder Roland Pfister created the Cellap Laboratoire, dedicated to the research and development of cell skincare products. The livestream ranked number three in Hainan that day and set a new high for Cellcosmet in terms of live viewers.
