The experiential activation spotlights a diverse array of spirits brands, including The Macallan, The House of Suntory, Hennessy, Domäne Wachau and Munakra Gin

AUSTRIA. Today’s selection of images comes from Vienna Airport Terminal 1, where Gebr. Heinemann presents an engaging multi-sensorial spirits experience. The photos were taken by The Moodie Davitt Report Brands Director Hannah Tan.

As reported, the Vienna Duty Free store in T1 was recently expanded from 1,200sq m to around 2,000sq m. Gebr. Heinemann said it now offers the “largest travel retail experience in Austria”.

The multi-brand spirits experience features a diverse line-up of brands across whisky, gin and Cognac. These include The Macallan Harmony Collection Guardian Oak, Suntory Hibiki Japanese Harmony, James Hennessy, Domäne Wachau’s XA22 Single Cask Collection and Munakra Mystic Garden Dry Gin.

(Above and below) Engaging, multi-sensorial displays invite travellers to explore the flavour profile of each spirit

Each spirit is brought to life through a blend of sight, scent and storytelling. Travellers can engage their senses by pressing playful diffusers that release the key aromas defining each spirit.

They can experience the vanilla, cinnamon and coffee notes of James Hennessy; the honey, rosemary and white chocolate flavours of Hibiki; and the oak and dark chocolate richness of The Macallan Harmony Guardian Oak among others.

Gebr. Heinemann has been operating stores at Vienna Airport since 2003 and now has nine shops spanning 4,800sq m. The company will also open a 3,200sq m store when the south extension of the airport opens in 2027. The partnership between Vienna Airport and Gebr. Heinemann has been extended to 2034.

Last year, Gebr. Heinemann expanded its Vienna Duty Free store to 2,000sq m, creating what it calls the “largest travel retail experience in Austria”
