MALAYSIA. Today’s selection comes from Penang International Airport, gateway to beautiful north-west Malaysia, including Penang Island.
The airport offers a variety of specialist retail and duty-free stores, cafés and restaurants, as well as premium passenger lounges. It is expected to serve some 7.8 million passengers per year, exceeding the 6.5 million capacity.
The resultant pressure on space has prompted a major expansion project, now underway. The three-pronged programme involves ancillary building works, apron and airside facilities works; the main terminal building; and associated works. ✈
