UAE. Today’s images from Dubai International Airport Concourse B present a powerful reminder of the impact Dubai Duty Free’s spirits & wine offer can play in enhancing brand visibility and awareness.
As reported, the combined liquor category delivered sales of AED96.7 million (US$26.5 million) in October alone, cementing its status as a top-five segment of the business, even if it has been challenged by competition in arrivals and domestic market sales, plus by the rise of top-class airport duty free environments and offers in key rival markets such as India.
We had a snapshot of global spirits names in particular as a drawcard as we flew out on Thursday afternoon, having attended the hugely well-attended MEADFA Conference on Monday and Tuesday, and took part on Wednesday in a memorial golf tournament and dinner at Emirates Golf Course to honour and celebrate the life of former Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman and CEO Colm McLoughlin, who sadly passed away on 30 October 2024 at age 81.
Walking the concourse, the stores were full of life with Brand Ambassadors hard at work inside the stores to drive shoppers to the promoted spaces.
To the fore were campaigns from Glenfiddich, The Glenlivet, Jack Daniel’s, Jägermeister and more, alongside displays from hot emerging brands such as Takamaka rum from the Seychelles, a big winner among Indian shoppers.
As the travel retailer enters its critical year-end shopping period, it will be aiming to set new sales highs in the weeks ahead, and will lean on the power of its brand partners campaigns to help reach them. ✈
