Ian Macleod Distillers drives travel retail growth with Edinburgh Gin and Smokehead debut in mainland Europe via Lagardère

Ian Macleod Distillers has launched Edinburgh Gin and Smokehead Islay Single Malt in mainland Europe through a new partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail.

The move marks the brands’ debut in the region and represents an important step in expanding their global distribution and recognition.

The trio strengthens Lagardère’s spirits assortment in European travel retail

The agreement includes listings for Edinburgh Gin The Classic, Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb & Ginger (full strength) and the travel retail-exclusive Smokehead Islay Single Malt Extra Rare at 14 Lagardère airport stores. These include airports in France, The Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Croatia.

These expressions are currently retailing at the Lagardère store on Réunion in the Indian Ocean.

The latest listings reinforce the company’s successful partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail, with Edinburgh Gin and Smokehead Islay Single Malt having been available at Luton and London City airports since 2019.

The brand marked 2024 as a milestone year with a central Edinburgh distillery and visitor centre, as well as the launch of a sustainable packaging.

Smokehead Islay Single Malt delivers a smoky, heavily peated flavour in bold packaging, designed for non-traditional whisky drinkers.
