With immense sadness we report the death of David Wilson, former William Grant & Sons’ Managing Director Global Travel Retail, and a highly respected executive in the channel.
He stepped down from the role at William Grant & Sons in January this year. He previously spent a near five-year term as Managing Director – Global Travel Retail with Beam Suntory, a post he held until July 2019. Before that he spent nearly 11 years in various senior roles at Morrison Bowmore Distillers.
In a statement, William Grant & Sons said: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of David Wilson, who was a valued member of the William Grant & Sons team during his time with us.
“David spent nearly five years with the company where he made a lasting impact. His career spanned almost 40 years with the majority as a prominent figure in the spirits industry, where he was a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Distillers and Master of the Keepers of the Quaich.”
Chief Commercial Officer Doug Bagley, who worked with him closely, said: “David was a rare character whose leadership and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with. He was not only an exceptional professional but also a true friend to many of the team.”
The Moodie Davitt Report joins William Grant & Sons and the travel retail community in expressing our deepest condolences to David’s family.
