IRHPL reveals two Theobroma patisseries at Indira Gandhi International Airport

INDIA. India Retails & Hospitality Pvt Ltd (IRHPL) has unveiled two Theobroma patisseries at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The outlets have opened in the Terminal 3 landside meet & greet area and in the building that connects this terminal to the Metro station.

They are located in spaces of 400sq ft and 350sq ft, with inside seating for five and 12 customers, respectively.

Well-known Indian patisserie Theobroma now has four IRHPL-operated stores at Indira Gandhi International Airport

The two openings bring the number of IRHPL-operated Theobroma outlets at the airport to four, following the successful progress of two similar stores opened in T3 in June 2023 (one landside, one airside).

Theobroma – ‘food of the gods’ in Greek – is a downtown brand owned by IRHPL’s partner Theobroma Food Private. The company owns and operates 235 patisseries across Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad.

Each Theobroma outlet has a staple food offer of brownies, cakes, pastries, sandwiches, cookies, biscuits, cupcakes and cheesecakes.

On the drinks menu is a variety of coffees, including espressos, cappuccinos and lattes; hot chocolate; and cold beverages, including mango and orange juices.

There is also a gifting element to the Theobroma stores with assorted chocolate gift boxes on offer, designed as a take-home treat for travellers.

The fixtures inside the Theobroma outlets include glass shelves and lighting used for showcasing cakes and brownies, and open racks displaying freshly baked breads and pastries.

The interior also features elegant touches such as chandeliers, wooden-carved stools and golden accents.

IRHPL Group Head Operations Satinder Singh Rawat, who revealed a fifth Theobroma outlet is planned to open in Delhi International Airport Terminal 1, told The Moodie Davitt Report: “The spaces are designed to give a luxurious yet cosy vibe. The aesthetic aims to reflect the brands identity as ‘the food of gods’, blending simplicity with a touch of grandeur.

“The combination of brand recognition and smart placement of our Theobroma stores has already made these latest outlets very popular for frequent fliers and local commuters.

“Theobroma’s menu at these locations caters to both quick bites for travellers and sit-down options for those with time to relax.”

Asked for his view on what Theobrama brings to the airport space, Rawat replied: “With its high-quality pastries, brownies and cakes, Theobroma elevates the grab & go options at the airport. The brand’s reputation for freshly prepared, indulgent desserts adds a unique dimension to the airports culinary landscape.

“The brand offers local flavour with a global twist. As an Indian-origin bakery with a menu that blends Western desserts with local tastes, Theobroma provides travellers, especially international ones, with a flavour of India, wrapped in a modern, globalised style.

“By bringing a premium yet accessible bakery option, Theobroma has enriched the airport experience, turning it into a destination not just for transit, but also for indulging in high-quality food.”

In addition to food & beverage, IRHPL operates stores across major Indian airports covering categories such as gifts and souvenirs, toys, perfumes and apparel. Its store estate also includes outlets at major airports in Mumbai, Goa, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Vizag, Pune and Cochin. ‍
