The special bottle is part of Jameson’s St Patrick’s Live celebrations, which included a Jameson Live Broadcast on 17 March which saw radio stations from around the world descending on the Old Jameson Distillery in Dublin to broadcast live to their listeners. Jameson also hosted a series of St Patrick’s Live parties at selected locations worldwide on 17 March.
The St Patrick’s Day bottle is the second in a series of annual releases by different artists. Inspired by intricate glass etching and ornate gilding synonymous with the décor of great Dublin pubs, the bottle’s design is said to reflect the classic back bar pub mirror.
David Smith, who worked with sign writers to absorb the techniques necessary to produce elaborate and hand-crafted reverse glass signs and mirrors, commented: “Being both a whiskey drinker and a Jameson fan, having the opportunity to design an iconic bottle which has hardly changed in two hundred years was one that I’m not presented with often, so I am extremely proud to have stamped my signature style onto the bottle.”
Pernod Ricard Travel Retail Europe Brand Manager Jessica Spence said: “St. Patrick’s Day has become associated worldwide with everything quintessentially Irish. Jameson is intertwined with Ireland’s rich heritage and as such we are delighted to offer travellers throughout Europe the opportunity to collect this special limited edition bottle and celebrate the true spirit of the Irish.”
