UK. The UK Travel Retail Forum is seeking to appoint a new Secretary General in a part-time role, following the retirement of Barry Goddard.
The candidate will represent members’ interests to the UK Government, HM Revenue & Customs, HM Treasury, the Department for Transport, the Department of Health, the Better Regulation Executive, and to relevant EU bodies, notably the Commission, and to respond to appropriate media interests.
Candidates are sought to:
• represent the views of UKTRF and its Members on key issues to relevant external bodies
• monitor and assess relevant political, legislative and statutory issues likely to affect the duty-free and travel retail business, and to ensure that Members are kept informed accordingly
• develop and maintain a close working relationship with HM Revenue and Customs in particular
• undertake all financial and administrative tasks necessary to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the UKTRF
• provide a full service to the Board and Members – prepare papers, agendas, arrange, attend and minute meetings
Interested parties should ideally have experience of working with HMRC and government departments, of drafting succinct and compelling briefing papers and argumentation, and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
