JAPAN. Kansai Airports has opened the upgraded Terminal 1 domestic zone at Kansai International Airport. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with representatives from Kansai Airports, including Representative Director CEO Yoshiyuki Yamaya and Representative Director Co-CEO Benoit Rulleau.

The revamped domestic zone, as reported, includes a much-expanded commercial area, notable for six outlets (four restaurants and two stores) that feature a rich Kansai flavour. A domestic lounge has also opened.
The company said the area features an attractive space where passengers can enjoy shopping and dining while waiting for boarding.

The opening precedes the completion of further development at the airport. This includes the opening of new international commercial zone in winter 2023, a grand opening of all areas in spring 2025, followed by an expansion of the international commercial area in autumn 2026.
Phase 2 construction, which includes the development of the new international departures area, began in July this year.
