Kids’ digital play centre at Brisbane Airport allows adults to focus on retail

Play9 has installations across the world but this project is its first at an airport

AUSTRALIA. A Kids Zone featuring an innovative digital play centre has been installed at Brisbane Airport’s International Terminal.

Play9 says the installation, on the “˜Village Green’ in the terminal’s Departures lounge, is its first ever at an airport. It features interactive and free animated games and challenges.

Brisbane Airport Corporation Head of Retail Toby Innes said: “Our vision for the Village Green was to create a park-like space where families could relax. Central to this is providing options for keeping youngsters entertained. The Play9 Kids Zone was the perfect solution as today’s kids are digitally savvy and are not afraid to engage with interactive technology.

“The console has been in place for only three weeks and it’s been incredible to see the amount of people who have enjoyed playing the games offered, and it’s not just kids and families.”

Play9’s Michael Bickers said: “We know from our history within shopping centres that our products provide high engagement levels for children which improves the retail journey for adults. This in turn creates increased customer satisfaction and improves sales for food, beverage and retail stores within the vicinity.”

Bickers said the game pack, In The Air, was tailored specifically for Brisbane Airport and targets children with flying-related games such as “˜Dinner Tray’ and “˜Are We There Yet?’.
