UK. The charity arm of King Power International-owned Leicester City Football Club (LCFC) has donated £10,483.44 (US$16,266.16) to The Moodie Report Foundation, providing vital funds for the fight against cancer.
The LCFC Foxes Foundation raised a total of £70,400.63 (US$109,233.66) last season, thanks to the help of the club’s supporters and the wider Leicestershire community, who contributed to a host of fundraising initiatives. Many of the fundraising events involved the club’s players and staff.
In a ceremony at half time during Leicester City’s game against Birmingham City on Saturday at the King Power Stadium (won in dramatic injury-time fashion by LCFC), the LCFC Foxes Foundation handed cheques to the charities it supported last season, among them The Moodie Report Foundation.
Recognising the importance of the community involvement, The Moodie Report Foundation passed the money raised directly on to the Our Space Appeal at Leicester Royal Infirmary, where a dedicated children and young people’s cancer unit was recently opened.

In comments featured in the matchday programme, The Moodie Report Founder and Chairman Martin Moodie said: “Thank you so much to Leicester City Football Club for supporting our fight against cancer.
“It’s that sort of community involvement and spirit that makes it such a great club – and one that I know will win promotion this year!”
The club was acquired in 2010 by the Asia Football Investments consortium, which was led by King Power International. Full ownership was transferred to King Power International last year.
The club’s chief executive is Susan Whelan, who also serves as Senior Executive Vice President at King Power International.
Other charities benefiting from the money raised by the LCFC Foxes Foundation last season included:
The Lord Mayor of Leicester’s Stroke Appeal 2012/13
The Silver Star Diabetes Appeal
Home-Start
The Alzheimer’s Society
The Foundation for the Welfare of the Mentally Ill Children of Thailand
