BELGIUM. Belgian accessories brand Kipling has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2011 collection with an eclectic mix of bags.
A wide range of sports-luxe styles feature functionality with stylish twists. Models include body bags and carry-all totes, plus a range of travel holdalls and wheeled suitcases.
Following on from the bumbag seen in previous seasons, oversized waist bags contain practical compartments, while modern sophistication is offered in a range of vintage leather styles including totes, shoulder bags and clutches.
Scuba inspiration is seen through electrifying prints and bright colours, along with more muted tones. Retro detailing gives a sporty feel, while metallic hardware details add a utilitarian edge.

New Horizons range
New for Spring/Summer 2011 is the New Horizons collection of practical bags with a nonchalant elegance, the firm said. Combining the DNA of Kipling’s Basic range updated with a modern fashionable finish, these styles are designed to make a fun yet sophisticated statement.
The Henna cross-body bag has metallic chain detailing and is made from a practical nylon fabric with a wetsuit finish. An extendable strap means the bag can be worn long, or over the shoulder.
Magali is an oversized utility bag with a metal hardware zip finish, new for Spring/Summer.
Basic Travel collection
This season, Kipling’s Travel range brings a sporty yet fashionable feel. This retro collection is available in a range of vibrant colours. Sporty stripes and heavy zips add detail to lightweight holdalls and suitcases, and there is a pocket and compartment for practicality.
The Sumida weekend bag is described as functional and stylish, and has an expandable zip. It is available in a green colour for scuba inspiration.
For longer holidays, Kipling’s Teagan wheeled duffle bag is available in a range of three sizes in vibrant pink, and incorporates a side pocket and two compartments.
