KLM named Best Airline Duty-Free Europe at Pax International awards

GERMANY. Royal Dutch Airlines – better known as KLM – has been named the Best Airline Duty-Free Europe in the Pax International Readership Awards announced at the Radisson Blu hotel in Hamburg on 15 April.

KLM was one of seven airlines and three airline caterers honoured in the awards, as voted by readers. Winners were selected through an online balloting process from the magazine’s website. KLM Head of Product Management Wim Spelt was on hand to accept the award.

This year PAX International added three new award categories: Best Inflight Duty Free Programme for four regions of the world, Best New IFE/Connectivity launch by an Airline, and Best Cabin Interior Passenger Experience Enhancement.

The winners from each category and region were:

Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier: Aeromexico
Airline Caterer of the Year: Flying Food Group

Asia
Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier: Garuda Indonesia
Airline Caterer of the Year: Korean Air Catering
Best Inflight Duty Free Programme: Korean Air

Europe
Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier: Lufthansa German Airlines
Airline Caterer of the Year: LSG Sky Chefs
Best Inflight Duty Free Programme: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

Middle East and Africa
Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier: Turkish Airlines
Airline Caterer of the Year: Emirates Flight Catering
Best Inflight Duty Free Programme: Etihad Airways
Best New IFE and Connectivity Launch: Etihad Airways
Best Cabin Interior Passenger Experience Enhancement: Virgin America
