NETHERLANDS. Ger Bergkotte has been appointed wine buyer for KLM Tax Free Services, the wines and spirits retailer at Amsterdam Schiphol airport. He replaces Frans Tol who has taken early retirement.
Bergkotte retains his responsibilities for KLM inflight (a separate operation) wines and spirits buying
“Wine is seeing a spectacular sales increase,” KLM Tax Free Services director airport retail Ico Smid told The Moodie Report. “So we’re very glad to have him on our team.”
The retailer’s head buyer, Rudd Schouten, who handles spirits and tobacco, will have cigars (another fast-growing area for KLM) added to his portfolio.
“These moves really strengthen our team,” said Smid.
