SAUDI ARABIA. Lagardère Travel Retail has opened an Aelia Duty Free store at Dammam King Fahd International Airport.
Dammam Duty Free opened on 25 July and is the second and larger of two Aelia Duty Free stores to open at the airport as part of a five-year contract, which the retailer was awarded in November 2016.
Lagardère said the 891sq m walk-through store was inspired by the city’s rich coastal heritage and desert terrain.
It offers a range of duty free categories, with a number of bespoke features.
These include the ‘Local Fishing Boat’, an area dedicated to confectionery (pictured below). It features both local and international brands as well as toys and gold souvenirs.
The ‘Sound Bar’ allows travellers to experience the effect of Bose headphones before catching their flights, according to Lagardère, while the ‘Oud Sensorium’ gives them the opportunity to test local fragrances. It offers a range of skincare products, cosmetics and make-up.
