Lagardère Travel Retail to open Caran D’Ache store at Basel Station

SWITZERLAND. Lagardère Travel Retail will open a 116sq m store in Basel Station this May, in partnership with Swiss writing instruments brand Caran d’Ache, following a tender.

The move marks an expansion into the rail channel in Switzerland for the retailer, after it opened a Lego pop-up store at Geneva Eaux-Vives Station at the end of 2021. The new shop will be located in the ‘Passarelle’, the commercial heart of Basel Station.

As reported, the company will also expand its Swiss store network later this year with a Polo Ralph Lauren store at Geneva Airport. This is scheduled to open in September, in space currently occupied by a Fashion Gallery boutique.

This follows the opening of the first ‘eco-responsible’ store in the Aelia Duty Free network at Geneva Airport last week.

The retailer said: “We would like to thank Geneva Airport and SBB CFF FFS (the Swiss rail authority) for allowing us to offer these innovative and ambitious concepts as well as for the trust placed in the Swiss Lagardère Travel Retail teams. We look forward to welcoming you to our new stores for unforgettable experiences.”
