SSP, Lagardère AWPL and Bishopp triumph in Launceston Airport F&B, retail and advertising tenders

AUSTRALIA. Launceston Airport has awarded new food & beverage, retail and advertising contracts following the largest tender process in its history.

The F&B contract has been awarded to SSP Group for the introduction of a Liv-Eat healthy eating concept plus a new all-day café and a modern bar/diner venue named The Reservoir. Launceston becomes the 12th airport in the SSP Australia and New Zealand portfolio.

Under its new contract, Lagardère AWPL will add 120sq m of floor space to a redesign of its popular The Launceston Store, which showcases Tasmanian gifts and artisan products.

New airport advertising partner Bishopp will install new and upgraded high-impact digital and outdoor advertising assets across the terminal and shopping precinct.

The Launceston Airport departures hall will also be refreshed by architect Cumulus, which will introduce new lounges and seating for passengers.

SSP Australia & New Zealand Managing Director Dominic Cain commented: “We are thrilled to partner with Launceston Airport to bring three exciting new concepts to travellers. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our strategic journey and growth plans for Australia and the broader Asia Pacific region.

“Introducing an all-day café, a new bar concept and Liv-Eat, a home-grown Tasmanian healthy-eating concept at Launceston Airport, we aim to enhance the passenger experience by offering diverse and high-quality dining options.

“Launceston Airport is a vital gateway for Tasmania and we are excited to contribute to its vibrant dining landscape. Our new concepts will not only serve travellers but also celebrate the rich culinary heritage of the region.”

Lagardère AWPL CEO Costa Kouros said: “Thank you to Launceston Airport for trusting Lagardère AWPL to raise the bar yet again and deliver another world-class retail offer through The Launceston Store.

“This store has always been special to us, and with the expanded space, we’ll boast an even bigger roster of local heroes and more of what travellers both want and need to start or end their journey to Tassie. The team and I are ready and excited to see our vision come to life alongside the terminal redevelopment.”

Bishopp CEO Brad Bishopp commented: “We are thrilled to be launching our new partnership with Launceston Airport. It’s no secret that Northern Tasmania is primed for growth and Launceston Airport is at the very forefront of that growth.

“As the largest regional Out of Home provider in Australia, Bishopp prioritises innovation, quality and driving results for brands across our extensive advertising network, and we’re excited to strengthen that offering on the Apple Isle.

“The addition of Launceston Airport to our portfolio is a significant milestone for Bishopp. We look forward to delivering outstanding advertising solutions that will enhance the traveller experience and drive economic growth in the region.”

Launceston Airport CEO Shane O’Hare said he was excited to showcase the best of Tasmanian food, wine, arts and culture at the airport.

He added: “The award-winning design of our new check-in hall reflects the beauty of Northern Tasmania through architecture and now these new partnerships will ensure the rest of the airport celebrates the amazing food and culture of the region as well.

“We think we have the best views of any airport in the nation and these new venues will harness that to give our passengers one of the best airport dining experiences Australia has to offer.

“This has been the largest tender process in the airport’s history and positions us well for the future, as we look to serve more than 1.75 million passengers by 2030.

“I’d like to thank the team at Emirates who for eight years have raised the bar for regional airport F&B offers and will leave the airport in a better place.” ✈
