INTERNATIONAL. Doug Bagley has taken over the role of Managing Director of Diageo Global Travel and Middle East (GTME), having previously assumed the position of Chief Operating Officer of the unit earlier this year.
Diageo announced a leadership change in July after former Managing Director Roland Abella stepped down from the post to return to his family in Lebanon. Bagley took over the COO role with immediate effect and the drinks company had indicated he would become MD on 1 October.
Confirming that change today, Diageo Asia Pacific Gilbert Ghostine said: “Doug has a diverse background in working with customers around the world, in improving the capability of our sales force and is relentless in demanding high execution standards.
“GTME is an exciting business within Diageo and I am confident that under his leadership, the business will continue to strengthen its reputation for being first in innovation and luxury.”
Bagley began his career with Diageo as General Manager, Greater China, in 2009 before being appointed to the role of Commercial Director for Australia. Last year, he joined the Asia Pacific executive team as Commercial Director, Diageo Asia Pacific.
He has almost 25 years of experience in consumer-facing businesses and worked in senior customer development roles with Unilever globally before joining Diageo.
“I have had an exciting start in understanding the business opportunities and challenges in the travel retail industry over the past three months,” said Bagley.
“GTME has some great innovations and activations in the pipeline which I am sure will excite and impress travellers around the world.”
