Leonidas extends travel retail-exclusive gift box range

Belgian chocolatier Leonidas will present three new travel retail-exclusive gift boxes at next week’s TFWA World Exhibition (D24 Blue Village).

Leonidas Les Exquises Gift Box offers a selection of 20 hand-decorated chocolates in four recipes presented in a chocolate-coloured box. Each praline features ‘double enrobage’, which is said to provide an extra layer of chocolate around the centre for more intense flavour and longer shelf-life.

The four pralines are: dark chocolate ganache with Robusta coffee, decorated with cranberry pieces; milk chocolate filled with pistachio butter cream, decorated with pistachio pieces; dark Mexican origin chocolate ganache, with crispy cocoa nibs; soft praliné in a milk chocolate shell, with crunchy almond pieces.

Leonidas Premium Gift Box features golden shimmery packaging with a cocoa bean print and a glossy red ribbon. It contains 32 pralinés, caramels and ganache pralines in milk, dark and white chocolate, including new Alexandre Lait, a milk chocolate praline which combines soft caramel with zesty orange pieces.

The 24-piece Leonidas GIA Gift Box is a shiny golden tin containing a trio of smooth pure pralines. The Gianduja is a soft hazelnut praline; the Giantina is a smooth melting combination of Gianduja and Feuilletine, a typical Belgian wafer biscuit; and the Giamanda is claimed to offer a richer texture with crunchy, chopped Californian almonds.

Leonidas has also added two new flavours to its 50g Chocolate Bar range: Blond Puffed Rice and Dark Praline. These join the other five flavours: Milk Praliné, Milk Salted Caramel, Dark Raspberry, Dark Coffee Praliné and White Chocolate.

In related news, from Q4 2017, Leonidas will participate in ‘The Cocoa Horizons Foundation’, established by Barry Callebaut. The foundation seeks to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities, by helping farmers improve productivity, by promoting sustainable, entrepreneurial farming, and by facilitating community development.

The Cocoa Horizons logo will appear on the front of the four latest Leonidas Tablet variants – milk hazelnut, milk salted almonds, dark orange and dark 85% – to show consumers that by buying Leonidas’ tablets, they are actively helping cocoa farmers.
