LeSportsac carries cartoon bags to Cannes – 06/10/06

US. Vibrant prints and a sense of fun mark the return of US brand LeSportsac to TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes later this month (Stand number: Yellow Village G38).

Since its last appearance at TFWA World Exhibition four years ago, LeSportsac has flourished in markets all over Asia, especially Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, in Hawaii, and in many of the capital cities of Europe in addition to its home market in the US. The brand is based in Fifth Avenue, New York.

The quirky “tokidoki” for LeSportsac has proved immensely popular in Asia this Autumn, fusing fashion, fun and chic utility. These playful designs feature cartoon characters in futuristic settings – sexy tokidoki girls speeding on motorbikes, compact cars cruising on rainbows and superheroes zooming over cityscapes.

The diverse LeSportsac collection on show at TFWA World Exhibition is aimed at buyers from all over the world, particularly Europe and the Middle East, in a marketing drive orchestrated by industry veteran Richard McGratty of McG Consultants.

Speaking about why the range would suit travel retailers, Aaron Eisenberg, Vice-President International Sales said: “We have an exciting vivacious brand with lots of colour, plenty of variety and bags of style – perfect for a forward-looking market like travel retail. We are now selling in 15 countries worldwide and from our success in those markets we know that we have a very wide customer base. LeSportsac appeals to people who are fun and funky but who want functionality too.”

LeSportsac product range in detail

Practical, stylish bags in every shape and size from belt bags and pouches to duffels and weekenders make up the collection.

The designs are characterised by whimsical prints, bold stripes, bright block colours and lustrous metallics, aimed at consumers of all ages.

Bags are constructed from printed rip-stop nylon with co-ordinated logo banding, grosgrain webbings, sturdy belts, zips and buckles.

Singled out for display on the Cannes TFWA stand will be handbags, pouches and travel bags in four prints:

Go-Go Navy with hearts cut out of brightly-coloured lozenges against a dark blue background;

Square Dance travel-labels design in bright colours;

Cute Zoo-in-Love spotty elephants and giraffes in pastels on a black background;

Twilight deep block navy to illustrate the more sober elements of the collection.

In an innovative move, LeSportsac keeps its offer fresh each season with guest designers creating their own distinctive prints for the collection.
